This article describes how to enable two-factor authentication.
Two-factor authentication is a popular security feature among security-conscious professionals that makes it harder for malicious users to access your account. After enabling two-factor authentication you will need to enter a verification token every time you log in on top of entering your normal username and password. Here is how the process works:
Step 1: Account Security Settings
First, hover your mouse over the button that says "Settings" in the top-right corner of your screen. Then click on the "Security" option. This will bring you to your account Security Settings page.
To enable two-factor authentication, simply click on the link that says "Enable two-factor authentication" at the top of the page. This will start the two-factor authorization setup process.
Step 2: Two Factor Settings
Begin by telling us what country you are from, and what mobile phone number you would like us to send verification tokens to. We also require you to enter your CodeGuard account password for security. When you are done simply click the "Submit" button.
Step 3: Verify
Immediately following step 2 you will receive a text message from us that includes your unique verification token. The service that we use to provide two-factor authentication is called Authy, and you may receive a text message from them prompting you to download the Authy app. Downloading the Authy app is optional, and you do not need to do so in order to enable two-factor authentication with us. The choice is yours.
Step 4: Finish
Enter your CodeGuard token into the form, and then click "Submit".
Success! You are done enabling two-factor authentication with CodeGuard.
While we encourage our users to enable this feature if they can, it is optional, and at any time one can disable the feature by visiting the account Security Settings page.
