Effective February 15, 2021, the CodeGuard support center will be merging with the Sectigo support center. This means that support emails will come from support@codeguard.com, and the knowledge base will be hosted on sectigo.com. There will be no interruption of our services, and you will continue to receive top of the line support during and after this transition.

I can't restore my website because of my database connection

Sometimes an error may be displayed if we are having trouble connecting to your WordPress database, so you are unable to restore your website. If we've been able to connect to your database to run backups, then there is a way around this error.

You will be able to restore your website and database, but you will need to restore them separately. In order to do this, you will need to choose the "Selective Restore" option for restoring your website. When you are prompted to select the files to restore, select the checkbox next to your home directory, and all the content will be selected for restore.

Once you've started your website restore, you will need to restore your database separately. From your dashboard, select your database. Click the "Restore" tab on the left side. If the date you want to restore to is not listed, click "View All Backups". Locate the date you wish to restore to and click "Restore Options" and click "Restore".

You will be notified when the restores have completed. We have some great video tutorials for both processes. The links are listed below:
